In 2007 the Indie Rock Cafe published an amazing set of playlists - The 12 Plays Of Christmas, they punned - including MP3 links for listening and downloading. The lists spanned a handful of post-modern classics and a seemingly endless supply of genuine obscurities - a dizzing cornucopia of digital delights sure to thrill the kiddies and stump obsessive collectors. In 2009, they published four more volumes, but eventually the playlists fell into disrepair. That's when I stepped in - to preserve this golden moment of obsession and compulsion for musical history! More Alternative-Indie Rock Christmas Songs: Volume 2 (2009)
The days are fast counting down to Christmas and Hanukkah is in full swing. Some of you are probably putting together your own special Christmas and holiday playlist mixes for your iTunes, iPod, or to share with friends and family.
Therefore, here's Volume 2 of interesting alternative Christmas songs to check out, in addition to the huge 12 mix collection we already published back in 2007. This mix includes some of the best Christmas songs we haven't published before (with just a few exceptions), including a “Christmasy” song from Band Of Horses (even though the song title doesn’t indicate so). There will be one more mega-mix coming up tomorrow.
